Financial FreedomYou can find financial freedom through an understanding of the Word as it applies this very important area of our life.
You may wonder why the Bible would have so much to say about money. Isn't money bad? No. Money is neither good nor bad. The love of money is bad. Your love is intended for God. You cannot have two Gods. |

Would you like to have an inspirational message followed by small groups workshops at your church?God is concerned about money because for so many of us we exchange our time and energy for money. Therefore, in a sense, it represents a large part of our very life. This is what God is interested in. You were created for His purpose, not your purpose. If we spend our life for money, we lose it. If we spend our life for Jesus we find it. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. We must devote ourselves to the Lord. The money will take care of itself. |

Bankruptcy
SHOULD CHRISTIANS TAKE BANKRUPTCY?
WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?
Is taking Bankruptcy a sin, or are our actions and circumstances that led to this circumstance? Do we have GODLY sorrow and ask forgiveness and learn from this situation? Or, is it just worldly sorrow to get out of a bind? Christians are forgiven their sins when we go to the LORD with a contrite heart and want to change.
Psalm 37: 21 tells us that, “The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously”. Here is where most Christians feel guilty about seeking bankruptcy protection. It is a matter of the Spirit within us, are we sorry for breaking GOD’S heart or are we sorry we are now caught?
Do you know that our bankruptcy laws are derived from the bible? Deuteronomy 15:1-2 tells us, “At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debts. And this is the form of the release: Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it; he shall not require it of his neighbor or his brother, because it is called the LORD’S release.” The intent here is to give us a fresh start and discourages us from going into debt-bondage again after the bankruptcy is over.
Our financial problem isn’t about money! JESUS taught us that sin is a type of spiritual debt. Proverbs 22:7 tells us, “The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender”. JESUS taught us about GOD’S forgiveness and the requirement that mankind has to forgive. Luke 7: 41-42 tells us, “a certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they could not pay, he canceled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?
Sin creates a spiritual debt. JESUS paid our debt of sin on the cross, a debt too big for us to pay. The world tells us, if we agree to borrow money and repay the debt, you must pay back such debt. However, our spiritual debt separates us from GOD (Romans 6:23). Again, the law of grace and mercy states that “the gift of God is eternal life in JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD”.
As Matthew Tozer (A Christian Attorney in Newport Beach, California) has stated: “As with any act of mercy, someone must bear the cost or the burden, just as Jesus did in dying for our sins. With bankruptcy, the creditor and ultimately the consumers must, in mercy, bear the burden of the unpaid debt, but GOD said HE will bless us for such acts of forgiveness and mercy (Deuteronomy 15:5, 10, and 18)”. Please refer to his website, www.christian-attorney.net for the enormous wisdom GOD has given him regarding bankruptcy.
If finances have been mismanaged, confess your failings to GOD now. Remember, there is no condemnation or guilt to those who are in CHRIST JESUS. JESUS, through HIS love and mercy, has given us a fresh start, with our new birth. Bankruptcy, based on the law of mercy with divine origins, if necessary, may provide you with a fresh start – a new and brighter economic beginning.
Bankruptcy is like any tool, it can be used for the purpose intended or it can be misused. The choice is a matter of your heart. Don’t feel guilty or ashamed, remove your pride and accept the mercy of our LORD JESUS CHRIST!
